DevOps / Integration Engineer

For one of our international projects in the field of astronomy we are looking for a DevOps / Integration Engineer. As a DevOps / Integration Engineer at TOPIC Embedded Systems, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of 7 people.

You will be responsible for the integration of new sub-elements, rollout of new releases and regression testing of already integrated subsystems using Kubernetes and Python. Furthermore, you are also responsible for integrating, testing and verifying the sub-system and system components. You will work closely with other specialists to deliver high-quality, scalable and efficient solutions.

The project is contributing to building the world's largest radio telescope in which TOPIC’s focus is on the central signal processing capabilities. We are responsible for integrating and verifying the infrastructure from physical Server/FPGA/GPU-based hardware located in data centres up to the applications running on the Kubernetes layer.

Your tasks & responsibilities:

  • Platform and Infrastructure Management: Design, set up, configure, and maintain a distributed infrastructure platform, ensuring seamless integration from hardware to application level. Manage the integration of new (sub)systems, storage clusters, databases, and support hardware migrations for existing subsystems.
  • CI/CD and Automation: Design, implement, and manage automated CI/CD pipelines on Kubernetes clusters. Write and maintain high-quality, robust Python code for test automation, and scripting. Create objective, reproducible, and maintainable automated tests.
  • Application and System Management: Manage containerized applications and microservices using Kubernetes, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. Monitor and optimize system performance and capacity.
  • Problem Solving and Collaboration: Debug and solve complex issues, collaborating closely with developers, testers, and other engineers to resolve integration and deployment challenges. Act as a sparring partner for peers and stakeholders, participating actively in meetings and contributing to project progress.
  • Documentation: Document processes, configurations, and procedures to ensure clarity and maintainability.

Job requirements

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in (applied) computer science, computer engineering, embedded systems, Physics and/or Mathemetics;
  • At least 5 years of experience in software/DevOps development for the high-tech domain and In-depth knowledge of and experience with Python programming;
  • Extensive experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration and CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar ;
  • Knowledge of infrastructure management concepts and tools such as Ansible. Experience with openstack. is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively within a team.
  • Release management experience is a plus.
  • Professional work experience in the Netherlands or elsewhere in Europa and an excellent command of English language. Knowledge of Dutch language is a big plus.
