To steer development projects into the right track, we are looking for a Software Architect who can lead teams and act as key technical interface to the end-customer. The Software Architect will also have the role as central technical lead for the complete development team, during both the definition and implementation phase.

The Software Architect we are looking for, will interact with software developers, design engineers and project leaders from various disciplines to develop and implement the best architecture in a highly complex multidisciplinary environment.

We work in Agile teams on challenging, state of the art software development projects for different clusters such as Cure & Care, Imaging & Controls, Mobility & Transport, Infrastructure & Logistics and Research and Development. At TOPIC, this means you will have daily stand-up meetings and weekly or bi-weekly sprints. In addition to technical competencies, the Software Architect at TOPIC is able to communicate effectively, not only within the team but also with suppliers and contractors and, most importantly, with our customers.

The Software Architect we are looking for:

  • has at least 7 years of professional experience;
  • has a  successful track record in high-tech development projects;
  • is a high-level conceptual thinker, a trusted sparring partner to peers and systems architects of our customers and other parties involved and is at the same time able to translate the concepts to our team;
  • is proficient with system requirement capturing and with translation into the architecture and design of software structures for overall system control;
  • is able to take the lead role in designing (f.e. control software structure from scratch), where real-time behavior, reliability and accuracy may be essential;
  • has a clear vision based on the future of the embedded machine control competence area and is able to advise on complex technical choices;
  • is familiar with multiple programming languages (e.g. C, C++, C#, Python) on various platforms (including Linux) and processors (e.g. ARM, Intel);
  • is familiar with Agile/scrum way of working;
  • is pragmatic and result-oriented, a team player, a strong communicator and influencer;
  • possesses a can-do attitude and acts as a motivator for a team of like-minded peers;
  • has excellent English language skills; additional Dutch skills are strongly preferred;
  • lives in (or is willing to relocate to) the Eindhoven area or within reasonable commuting distance;
  • has a Master or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Physics and/or Mathematics.
